Food again

And here is the recipe for the Original Nanaimo Bar!!!

It really exists, I didn't make this up! It looks like this:

And it is made like this:

Ingredients:

Bottom Layer

1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup sugar, 5 tablespoons cocoa, 1 egg beaten, 1 1/4 cup graham wafer crumbs, 1/2 cup finely chopped almonds , 1 cup coconut
Second Layer
1/2 cup unsalted butter, 4 tablespoons cream, 2 tablespoons vanilla pudding powder, 2 cups icing sugar
Third Layer

4 squares semi-sweet chocolate (1 oz. each), 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Directions:
Bottom Layer
Melt first 3 ingredients in top of double boiler. Add egg and stir to cook and thicken. Remove from heat. Stir in crumbs, coconut, and nuts. Press firmly into an ungreased 8" x 8" pan.
Second Layer
Cream butter, cream, custard powder, and icing sugar together well. Beat until light. Spread over bottom layer.
Third Layer
Melt chocolate and butter overlow heat. Cool. Once cool, but still liquid, pour over second layer and chill in refrigerator.
Makes 24 bars.

Complicated and it's probably not worth the hassle...well, well...

Not so complicated, just the ingredients: graham wafer crumbs ... this supposed to be what is left from bionapolyi (sorry)? I eat it when produced :D
Looks nice, Ill try it, specially that there is plenty of coconut in a cuppord I clean from time to time :)

Yes, bionapolyi, but I am convinded that any other biscuit-crumbs would work..haztartasi keksz? (household biscuits?) Also, walnut instead of almond should be fine.
Don't you have leftover eggwhites along with your coconuts? I'm sure you do, you always had! This two can be made into coconut kisses, which is one of my favorites! (if it's chewy, not hard)
And how about that whipped-cream-coconut-rum thing you made me once? It hides the rum so well that you get drunk without noticing.

Lovely recipe, thanks !
Is it normal that I don't get anything about the "bionapolyi" thing? And where is bionapoly anyway ? :)

The rum with cream I had with the diver girl when she only had Bendeguz and I visited her. It was soooo long time ago... :(
Walnuts have very harsh taste, but it should work, of course.
The coconut kisses I love also, and I never knew how to make them, pleeeease tell me!
Bionapolyi ... bio you understand, napolyi is wafer ... what you get in the church, just some nicer pastry and usually have some cream filling.

Beat 3 (cold) eggwhites with 1 cup sugar until stiff. Gently fold in 1 cup coconut. Even better if you roast it, but let it cool before adding to the eggwhite.
In a greased pan make walnut-sized kisses and dry it in warm oven (180 C) for approx. 40 minutes. First day it's hard but turns softer later.
Coconut can be replaced with almost anything, corn flakes, cocoa powder, walnut, almond, etc.
You can add cinnamon (german version) if you like it.
And you can stick two together with jam or cream (Nutella!) for more calories.

For me bionapolyi is a joke, the napolyi I know is everything but "bio"...I still remember one hazelnut bunch which coated my tongue with artificial hazelnut flavour so I couldn't get rid of it for days.

Bionapoly must exist in a parallel universe, one that is obviously better than ours.

Yes, true, it's certainly not bio, the one which only I liked: Citromos napolyi. (which is not something eatable with lemon flavor, it is citromosnapolyi).
Thanks for the kisses, I will try them.
