I am back

Hi, everyone.
I returned to the real world after a quite miserable week, including strike of the bus company, languague exam (forever), a conference, a broke-down laptop and an angry boss (and, unfortunately, not without reason...). Oh, yes, and an unsuccessful attempt to get interviewed for US visa - my purse was too big, I couldn't even enter the building...
Hey-ho.
I start to contribute to the blog again, I promise (and I am so glad you missed me!!)

Yesterday was nana-day

Happy nana day!

In the real Castro Bisztro I'd have payed a cognac with coffee for nana.
Can I do it later when we both be in Budapest?

Architecture in Helsinki

This story is exactly four years old.

When we were thinking about the program of our Friday night with my Austrian friend, she suggested we go to a nearby pub (Bourke Street? anyway, close to Oxford Street) where a concert was taking place that night. The band was called "Architecture in Helsinki". She did not know anything about them but - being an architect herself - was interested about the extra connotations it might have.

So we went there (no idea if it was our first time in that pub but we certainly visited it several times) and we even payed for the entrance (rare thing - most concerts were free). It was even more special knowing that I can count on one hand the concerts I went to during my stay in Sydney.

And then we saw the concert - yes, it was rather visual, with bizarre costumes, decorations everyhere and around a dozen people jammed on the tiny "stage" (almost as many as the audience) playing encountable number of instruments for something that could be categorized (if we must) as "undergroung pop" and was really funny. My friend fell instantly in love with the bassist - he was a very cute little thing (approximately 18 years old), with curly black hair and innocent blue eyes.

We loved the whole thing and cheered and danced all along and concluded by the end that if they could manage not to have 2-3 minutes pause between each song (time needed to rearrange the huge number of instruments and performers) it would be a great gig.

We chatted with the band later on and found out that the name was chosen because it sounded cool and that it had nothing to do with them being architectures or coming from Helsinki. We almost bought T-shirts. The enthousiasm of my friend went so far (OK, I encouraged) that she invited the cute little guitarist to join us in the salsa place we were heading afterwards. We were waiting for him there but he did not show up.

This part is all new.

When I opened "Metro" on my morning train today, I've found out (I almost dropped it to the ground like if I've seen a ghost) that they will be playing next week in Brussels. I've also found out that their second album just came out.
They will play in London on the 4th of June (King's College); in Boston on the 7th (Middle East Downstairs); and in Vancouver on the 14th (Richards on Richards).

Update post-concertum: the good new is: there is hope! They did manage to minimalize the pauses, actually, there was none. In consequence they were running around so energetically that they did not manage to last much longer than an hour and because we missed the first two songs this was, like, my shortest concert ever. But it was great!

And let me explain a bit more the hidden message of the post: this concert is a MUST for you guys out there in Boston and in Vancouver - it is like a virtual present from me, look at it as if I was there and dragged you to the concert by my own two hands. It is like looking up at the moon knowing that it is the same moon from all parts of the globe... Note to i: I tried to convince them after the gig to come and play at Sziget-fesztivál - they might be there next year!

Good jumping up and down! And don't be late like we were :-)

Where is Nana?

I found a song of Cseh Tamás - better saying it came to my mind - with the title "If only in 10 years it wasn't this song". text
It is on "Fehér babák takarodója'"

* we got succesfully to University of Budapest

Bsz

"We can't all, and some of us don't. That's all there is to it."

This is from me (Real Parisian Cake!):

And I guess nanaimo will bring the jug because you already have the balloon.

So now you can't say "being miserable myself, what with no presents and no cake and no candles, and no proper notice taken of me at all, but if everybody else is going to be miserable too----"

(One week before and one week after is still the birthday, right? I hope so :-) )

Manhattan

... where I'd like to go before ... I die. Yesterday's cinema with sister - who else would find such movies. And again, one of my stupidities came up: I am always in trouble with mixing actors/actresses. I have pairs of them, and I learn which two I mix. And I say both when I mean any of them. In this film one appeared again, who I didnt know about ... and I felt I started sweating.
Here is the newest pair:

an other one:

Do you also mix people?
Who do you mix?

Hangover

Yesterday we went to a place where they offer "all you can eat" chocolate buffet. We ate all we could.
There was a fountain too with dark chocolate cascading down. You can put the fresh fruits under, strawberry for example...lots of them. And there was crepe, and unlimited access to Grand Marnier (as a topping, hehe).
So here I am, and this Friday won't be too productive.

Good to know; you can buy or rent these chocolate fountains, for weddings e.g. (I would go for white chocolate in this case...or brown wedding gown.)
And. Scientists (ehm) proved, that mothers who consume chocolate during their pregnancy, give birth calmer (better sleeping) and happier babies. Consider it.

Never get discouraged

...for example by my latest post not receiving any comments. So here you go, just a little citation from the university's toilet (I did not make a photo of it but I sware it is reproduced true to letter)

It is disturbing to point out this minimum of hygiene…

Please throw the worn toilet paper into the basin and draw hunting after each use.

The personnel in load of cleaning and the people who follow you thank you.

I have to admit drawing several times a day takes up an awful lot of time. And I hate to wear toilet paper every day...But at least my paranoid fears are not without ground, after all!

Where we were

There are so many things to tell you Guys! I just pick one quickly: a concert where we were last week with tarelle, at the Royal Circus (steep-steep seats at the second floor, but good view at her (not on a peta poster like here but in "live" version):

She is a singer-songwriter with a very special voice (that we had known for some time now) and with an interesting performance style that we just got acquainted with. Here is one of my favourite songs for you to start up the week (suits rainy weather perfectly):

New Blogger

Its time to introduce you the youngest blogger.
Its femur was 8mm long last week - just to see the size :)

To remind you the less bright side of life here is something.
Thank you, Mr. Lennart Nilsson.
